18 till 26 June 2002 This year the Italian Air Force 18 Gruppo based at Trapani-Birgi AB, flying the F-104S/ASAM exchanged with the Hellenic Air Force 348 mira flying the RF-4E, based at Larissa AB. It was a two way shifted squadron exchange. First the Phantoms visited Italy in May and later in June the Starfighters flew to Greece. According some unconfirmed reports, four Starfighters participated. |

18 till late June 2002 This period the Italian Air Force 23 Gruppo based at Cervia AB, flying the F-104S/ASAM exchanged with the Turkish Air Force 191 FILO flying the F-16C and based at Balikesir AB. It was a 2 way shifted squadron exchange where the Italians visited Turkey from June 18th and the Turkish F-16 visited Italy later on in July. Starfighters seen at Balikesir were: MM6739 code 5-47, MM6756 code 5-42, MM6737 code 5-46 and MM6887 code 5-33. |
