At Lignano Sabbiadoro an F-104S (MM6796) can be found preserved on a pole as "5-37" from around early 2005.
This year the aircraft received some treatment and also it was repainted with a modern light-grey overall color scheme and still coded "5-37". It was first seen on the pole this month (September 2024).
It is a memorial statute for pilot Major Pasqualino Gorga (operational F-104G pilot with 28 Gruppo at Verona-Villafranca) who was killed in an F-104 crash at laguna di Marano on the 28th january 1986. (RF-104G MM6646 code 3-50) .
