F-104G D-8268 taken down at Zwolle

In 1996 the former Royal Netherlands Air Force F-104G D-8268 was installed on a pole at the entrance of the Deltion College in Zwolle. At this College, students are trained to become technical engineers in the aviation industry. In 2009 it moved to another location aside the College buildings but kept there and it was always a striking appearance.
Today in the afternoon, April 22nd, 2025, Personnel of the Royal Netherlands Air Force arrived at the College and carefully removed the aircraft from its pole. The aircraft showed a lot of corrosion and this was one of the main reasons to take these measures. Due to this poor state of the aircraft it is almost certain that it will be scrapped soon and not return back at Zwolle one day.
