Cavanaugh Flight Museum on the move

56-780

After thirty-one years at its Addison location, the Cavanaugh Flight Museum is closing for moving. All aircraft, educational displays and memorabilia are being moved to the North Texas Regional Airport (KGYI), former Perrin AFB, Perrin AFB historical Museum, 436 McCullum Ave, Denison, TX 75020. At the present time, this location is not open to the public.

Within the collection there are two F-104 Starfighters:

  • F-104A (c/n 1068) "908/F" Royal Jordanian Air Force as USAF 56-780, civil “N66342”.
  • F-104A (c/n 1074) “909/G” Royal Jordanian Air Force (ex USAF 56-786).

Some believe the 56-780 is actually 56-779 but that is not true. Of course there could be parts inside the aircraft with cn plates (exchanged during maintenance) that could indicate in some way that the identity would be c/n 1067, but the real 56-779 went to storage at MASDC and left the storage area in 1980 while the real 56-780 flew in Jordan since 1973 and came back to the USA in 1990.

Inside the comments we will update you all on the status of the move to the new location. Stay tuned!!!
