Starfighter Squadron Exchanges 2001-2004

18 till 26 April 2001

Not yet confirmed but it looks like the Trapani-Birgi based 18 Gruppo had a squadron exchange with a French squadron at Cazaux. During this period four Starfighters were seen at this airbase in France being F-104S/ASAM MM6732/37-04, MM6914/37-01, MM6926/37-12 and MM6939/37-22. They used callsigns "I 6926" and "I 6732".

14 till 19 September 2001

This year the Italian Air Force 10 gruppo based at Grazzanise AB, flying the F-104S/ASA-M rotated with the Norwegian Air Force 332 Skv at Rygge AB. It is unknown if it was a 1 or 2 way rotation but at least three Italian Starfighters were seen in Norway being MM6776/9-46, MM6923/9-30 and MM6930/9-53. Aircraft flew via Lechfeld in Germany.

September 2001

This month the Italian Air Force 9 gruppo based at Grosseto AB, flying the F-104S/ASA rotated with the Hellenic Air Force 335 mira flying the A7 Corsair II and based at Araxos AB. It is unknown if it was a 1 or 2 way rotation.

2001

This year the Italian Air Force 20 gruppo based at Grosseto AB, flying the TF-104G and F-104S/ASA rotated with the Spanish Air Force ALA23. It is unknown if it was a 1 or 2 way rotation.

2001

This year the Italian Air Force 23 gruppo based at Cervia AB, flying the F-104S/ASA-M rotated with the Norwegian Air Force 331/334 Skv duo squadron flying the F-16 and based at Bodo AFB. It is unknown if it was a 1 or 2 way rotation. Aircraft seen in Turkey were F-104S/ASA-M MM6737/5-46, MM6739/5-47, MM6756/5-42 and MM6887/5-33.

18 till 26 June 2002

This year the Italian Air Force 18 gruppo based at Trapani-Birgi AB, flying the F-104S/ASAM rotated with the Hellenic Air Force 348 mira flying the (R)F-4E, based at Larissa AB. It is unknown if it was a 1 or 2 way rotation but at least 4 (still unidentified) Starfighters flew to Greece.

18 till late June 2002

This month the Italian Air Force 23 gruppo based at Cervia AB, flying the F-104S/ASAM rotated with the Turkish Air Force 191 filo flying the F-16 and based at Balikesir AB. It is unknown if it was a 1 or 2 way rotation.

Early till mid September 2003

This month the Italian Air Force 10 gruppo based at Grazzanise AB, flying the F-104S/ASAM rotated with the Hellenic Air Force 339 Mira flying the F-4E. It is unknown if it was a 1 or 2 way rotation.

2003

This year the Italian Air Force 9 gruppo based at Grosseto AB, flying the F-104S/ASAM rotated with the German Air Force JG71 flying the F-4F Phantom and based at Wittmund AB. It is unknown if it was a 1 or 2 way rotation.
