F-104 Starfighter Scale Models

A lot of members build their own 104s in verious scales, in plastic, in wood or even have them remotely controlled with jet-engines. This page tries to give some informations, backgrounds and news on the 104 scale-model scene.

Beneath an overview of all the Major Manufacturers models. There are also kits made by: Ahm, Artidlast, Busch, Fuji, Hema, Marusan, Paramount, Otaki, Rmm, Sankyo, Sanwa, & Starfix. These have not (yet) been included in the list. People interested in old kits should consult: "The Collectors Value Guide for Scale Model Plastic Kits", by John W. Burns, 5th edition, 1991. Daco has announced a new title "F-104" in their excellent 'uncovering...' book series, specifically meant for modellers. It is expected in 2010. They also released a new German Air Force modelling decal set and next year they expect to release a wonderful decal set for the Belgium AF Starfighters. CONVERSION KITS:

1:48 scale TF conversion
Special conversion-kit has been produced by Maintrack Productions. They made a resin conversion kit ( Kit no. 48:5 ) suggesting using the Monogram F-104G as the basic kit in order to convert it into a TF-104G model. Beneath a photo of this kit (by Harry Prins).

Ryan VTOL 1:72 scale conversion
Another conversion kit came from the company UNICRAFT. The kit could be used to convert a 1.72 scale F-104A or C into the Ryan VTOL project Starfighter. More information about this kit conversion can be found on page: F104 Ryan VTOL conversion 1962
