This year the aircraft was involved in an accident but was only slightly damaged. It could be repaired.

2 March 1977 (RF-104G)

While landing together with RF-104G "5636" under very bad weather conditions this Starfighter crashed on the North end of the runway of Tao Yuan Air Base. Sadly pilot, and flight leader WAN Hsien Chun Fu was killed just as his collegue pilot inside "5636".
