Accident Reports:

1996 (F-104G)

This F-104G from 3rd TFW (3rd Air Group) was hit in the middle fuselage area by 20mm training shells by another F-104G, while on 15 minute (QRA) alert duty. That particular Starfighter, also on alert, was tested by groundcrew. The "4306" was hit by about 20 shots of 20 mm Vulcan training rounds by its collegue alert F-104G which was under missile circuit testing. Because the switch was situated at cannon position the cannon accidently fired.
The "4306" was declared damaged beyond repair and was written off officially on August 6th, 1996 by 1st Depot in Pingtung AB.

This photo of F-104G 62-12247 was taken around 1970 and shows why CCK AFB was often called Starfighter city. Many Starfighters flew their operations from a large ramp. Around 1970 they started building shelters.
