Note: This Starfighter was used for tactical recce missions where the Taiwanese Air Force uses 5000 series serials.
When in 1983 ex Luke Air Force Base F-104's arrived they decided to convert some of these to RF-104G new modification standard and to modify the old remaining RF-104G fleet to F-104G standard and to move them to the other Wings.
This 62-12242 was one of them and it moved to the 3rd TFW after modification, in September 1983 receiving also a new serial ("4402")
