Note: This Starfighter was one of many delivered to Norway via the USS Croatan which arrived at Agag harbour on August 6th, 1963. It also had a RF-104G camera housing like lots of the early Norwegian Starfighters did. On May 9th, 1970 it flew a demonstration during the Open House at Bergen AB.
One of the IRAN maintenance took place at Fokker Avio Diepen, Ypenburg AB from at least May 1972 till the day it flew back to Bodo AB on Jue 8th, 1972. The aircraft participated in SweNorDa exercise at Lulea Air Base in May 1974. When it was written of durign an accident at Ramstein Air Force Base in 1978 it had accumulated a total of 2953,1 flying hours.
After it was declared write-off the Air Force decided to use it as instructional airframe at the LTB school at Kjevik, where it arrived 10 October 1978. Eventually it was phased out and transported in 1985 to a scrapdealer at Sorum who sold it to a scrapdealer (Ring Teigen) in Hokksund. This company decided to cut off the forward part (canopy + cockpit) and to scrap the rest of the aircraft. In May 1985 this forward section was bought by collector Jens Rino Haugen who took it to his hometown Froland. He also demonstrated this cockpit in 1988 at Setermoen. In 1998 he sold the cockpit-section to Erling Revheim, living in Bergen. Erling still has this forward section at home today in his private collection.

Accident Reports:

17 January 1978 (F-104G)

It was written off during a landing accident at Ramstein AB. The plane landed hard with only its nosegear extended. It skidded along the length of the runway, was caught in the safetynet and came to a stop in a field about 30 meters off the runway. The pilot, kpt. Sverre Hans Wilhelm Aarkvisla was unhurt. Since the Norwegian Air Force expected replacement F-16s the next year and the repair would take a lot of money and time, they decided to write it off and to use it as instructional airframe at the LTB school at Kjevik, where it arrived 10 October 1978.

Likely taken in 1975, this 62-12238 with code "238" is seen landing at Bodo Air Base. The area around Bodo is just magnificant. Sadly it is so far in the North that almost no photos are known taken at this Air Base during the F-104 period..

Not much was left after the scrapdealer at Hoksund had scrapped the remaining part of aircraft 62-12238. This photo was taken at Hoksund in May 1985.
