dd 10aug63, 331skv "FN-A" (aug63-feb71) w/o 10feb71 Note: This Starfighter was one of many delivered to Norway via the USS Croatan which arrived at Agag harbour on August 6th, 1963. It also had a RF-104G camera housing like lots of the early Norwegian Starfighters did. The aircraft participated in a squadron rotation at Twenthe Air Base in October 1965. When it was lost in an accident it had accumulated a total of 1191.4 flying hours. |
Accident Reports: 10 February 1971 (F-104G) It crashed near Steigen, 100km North from Bodo Air Base. The Starfighter was one of three on an intercept training mission off Bodø, when it flew into the mountain Skotstind due to very bad visibility circumstances (heavy fog). The pilot, Lt. Richard Herbert Nyen was sadly killed instantly. |
