Note: This Starfighter was one of many delivered to Norway via the USS Croatan which arrived at Agag harbour on August 6th, 1963. It also had a RF-104G camera housing like lots of the early Norwegian Starfighters did. They did not wear camera's and soon were removed during the first maintenance cycle (or IRAN). The aircraft participated in a squadron rotation at Honington in May 1978. When it was lost in an accident it had accumulated a total of 3245.6 flying hours.

It crashed in the sea near Helligvær, aproximately 17 nautical miles North East of Bodø Airbase. It was one of two Starfighters on a mission to identify and photograph unidentified planes West of Lofoten. On approach to Bodø Air Base this 62-12234 crashed in the sea after a series of abnormal movements. The pilot, Lt. Kåre Haugvaldstad managed to eject, but was too low for the chute to open.
