Turkish Air Force (Turk Hava Kuvvetleri)
61-2620 / FG-620
dd 15aug63 as “61-2620”, 4AJU (60s-jan85) wfu 16jan85 Note: This Starfighter participated during the Best Hit 1974 exercise held at its homebase Murted mid July 1974. It flew with the 141st Filo by that time. Around 1980 it received code/serial "4-620" and flew until it was withdrawn from use on 16 January 1985. Immediately after it was sent to Gaziemir to serve as an instructional airframe inside the Technical Air Force School. Like all instructional airframes the serial was changed from "4-620" into "E-620" ("E" stands for Education). When the Starfighter period was over in Turkey the school phased out this Starfighter and it became a gateguard at the military area of the Adnan Menderes airport. It can be found preserved on a pole, still as "E-620". We are still looking for good photos of this aircraft !!!! |
