Accident Reports:

11 February 1976 (F-104G)

This day this Starfighter, operated by 7th TFS within the 3rd Air Group at CCK AB, was lost during air to ground gunnery training on the Taiwanese shooting range near CCK AB. Pilot Major Liang Ching-Ping encountered a flame out of its J79 engine after his first dive bomb release. This happened just after he climbed and put his throttle back from afterburner to military power. The engine rev speed decreased rapidly and the pilot attempted to restart it twice. Sadly he did not succeed since the J79 could only produce 30% RPM while the EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature) decreased to about 320 degrees C. The engine did not react on the engine throttle again. The pilot ejected at 4,000 feet and was safe.
